Referencing a Built-in Location in a Form

New Interface

The following section describes how to allow Users to select a Location from the built-in Locations using a Reference Field when designing a Form in ActivityInfo.

ActivityInfo contains a built-in Geo-database of Location Types that include several Locations (e.g. Provinces, Villages, Governorates, etc.)

You can add a Reference Field in you Form to allow Users to select a Location from this Geo-database during data collection.

This way you allow Users to link the data they submit to a specific Location saving time and possible mistakes.

If you can't find the Location you want in the built-in Locations or if you want a customized Location Type you can create a Location Type and link your Form to that instead.

The hard-working folks behind ActivityInfo have uploaded Administrative Levels for each country in the world; while we try to keep this information as complete and up to date as possible, there might be missing layers of information or outdated layers in the country you are working in. If you are working in a country where geographic information appears missing/outdated, contact us and we will see what we can do.

How to Reference a Built-in Location

  • Click on "Geography" to reveal the list of Countries.
  • Select the Country and the built-in Location Type and click on the "OK" button.
  • On the Form Designer, click on the "Save" button.
  • The Reference Field has been added to the Form and Users will be able to choose from the Built-in Locations available in the Referenced build-in Location Type (i.d. Province).
